Top social media platforms for 2022
It’s 2022! Time to kick off a successful year of growth and creativity for online brands. As we go into this new year, these are the social media platforms we’re focused on, and think brand owners should be focused on too!
TikTok
TikTok is where trends are born.
It’s also the most entertaining of the social media platforms, thanks to the thousands of short-form videos created everyday. Anyone can create and share on the app. Users create, share, and discover trends, and have even shaped culture on other social media platforms (e.g. Reels on Instagram). But there are two things that truly set TikTok apart:
- its focus on entertainment and creativity (people show up for light-hearted fun, especially in these times), and
- its algorithm that delivers content based on the user’s interests.
Both of these have led to more organic traffic for brands, than any other social media platform! So, if you’re looking for rapid growth in 2022, we’d suggest starting with TikTok! Come as yourself, join the trends, and have fun on video. Then, watch your brand recognition grow.
Pictures are still worth 1000 words.
And Instagram is still one of the most powerful apps to connect with people through visual content. Most brands use Instagram to showcase the best of themselves and their products / services. However, Instagram also gives brands more features and flexibility to engage deeply with customers. From polls and story highlights to links and live video conversations, Instagram allows brands to:
- attract customers with beautiful visuals and interactive content, then
- sell to them directly in the app.
If you work in a field that relies heavily on visuals, Instagram is a MUST in 2022. Convert more followers to customers through Instagram Stories, brand collaborations, and the countless features Instagram continues to release for brand owners.
Keep your finger on the pulse of what’s trending.
If you want to know what the world is talking about, go to Twitter. Twitter is still the best place to find news and trends from around the world. Just by being on Twitter, you’ll find topics to talk about. And if you actually engage in today’s conversations, you’ll start to see more genuine engagement with – and recognition of – your brand, both on AND off Twitter. Twitter is interactive. Be present. Focus on what’s happening now. Then, join the conversation.
YouTube
Videos, videos, videos!
Before ending this list, we would be remiss not to mention YouTube. YouTube is 2nd largest social media platform, and boasts more search volume than Bing, Yahoo, AOL and Ask.com combined. Whether you are established or just starting out, YouTube is the best platform to share educational and/or long-form content videos. This includes:
- Product reviews
- How-To / Tutorials
- Top Lists / Rankings
- Comedy
- Reactions
- Q&A
- Video podcasts, interviews, or docuseries
- Music videos
- and more
Now, creating long-form videos requires time, expertise, and sometimes, additional cost. But if you can commit to creating videos consistently, you can create more monetization opportunities for your brand, educate your customers, and get more eyes on your brand / website.
Well that’s our list for 2022!
